Presentation of the day trip:

This excursion is available from 1 to 8 visitors.

Chambéry is located in the heart of the French Alps, easily accessible from Geneva, Switzerland or Lyon, France. “Chambéry offers an ideal setting for strolling and shopping with its centuries old town center, pedestrian streets and arcades hosting a myriad of shops. It is the historical capital of Savoy since the 13th century”.

You will taste wines that will surprise you by their quality, their uniqueness and their rarity.

Presentation of Savoy wines

On the foothills of the spectacular mountain region known as the Alps, ancient vineyards produce rare wines which are now considered to be amongst the best in France.

As well as gaining an excellent national wine producing reputation, Savoy is also developing a name as a world class wine producing region. In 2000 the World Sommelier Convention took place in Savoy, and in 2006 the National Graduate Oenologist Congress was held here.

Eight of our grape varieties are entirely unique to Savoy, and these can produce all types of wine, including the 8th Cremant from France, in 2014. In fact Savoy holds the record for the number of grape varieties (23) and Crus (22) with respect to the surface area of its vineyards. Savoy is also the premier region in France for producing high quality grafted vine plants.

In 2008, a Savoie wine producing partner was voted one of the top fifteen wine producers in France, by the prestigious wine guide Bettane and Desseauve, and they were again awarded a special distinction in 2009.

The 25 wine tasters of the famous American wine guide Parker have referenced the Savoy wines as ... “one of the best value for money in the world”.
